Candida Albicans and the wonders of Kinesiology treatment

aCandida Albicans is a yeast that lives within the large intestine, and in a healthy person, this is where it remains in perfect balance with good bacteria. When the immune system becomes compromised and the number of beneficial bacteria declines, Candida starts to multiply and may disseminate to other organs causing polystemic Candidiasis.

An overgrowth of Candida Albicans is thought to effect around one third of the population in the west, (personally, I feel it effects more people), due to the clinical overuse of antibiotics, which is widely recognized as a major cause. Other causes that seem to exert a similar effect are the oral contraceptive, HRT, steroids, such as corticosteroids, an acidic diet, (think sugar), and stress.

As every single person is biochemically different, everyone will display different symptoms, and would also need a uniquely tailored treatment plan. This is why I believe Applied Kinesiology is one of the best healing modalities for the treatment of Candida overgrowth. With muscle testing and the right combinations of herbs and nutrition it is easy to determine not only if someone has Candida overgrowth, but also what level they have it at, and how it can be treated for that specific persons needs.  Information is taken from the body via muscle testing, and then relayed to the practitioner who will then be able to determine what it is the person needs.

Candida sufferers usually display a different variety of food intolerances or chemical sensitivities unique to them.  One person may suffer psoriasis, and would be extremely sensitive to skincare products and sugar, while someone with Chronique Fatigue may experience electromagnetic stress or sensitivities to gluten, dairy, sugar and caffeine. To devise a standard treatment plan for everyone with Candida overgrowth is to miss the point completely. One set treatment will not be a cure for sufferers of Candida! Clearing candida is a lengthy process that must be understood by the practitioner for it to be successfully undertaken by the client. Recommending caprilic acid for all clients, which some practitioners do, is simply not good enough for people who have severe cases of polystemic Candidiasis.  Doing a set Candida diet is also to misunderstand this process of detoxification and elimination. When I suffered sever Candida overgrowth myself I could not tolerate soya, beans or pulses, and yet I was eating these foods daily thinking my diet was impeccable as I’d cut out wheat, sugar and cows dairy. Everyone is different, and responds differently to foods, environment, emotional issues, etc.  It is also important to eat fruit, and the standard Candida diet will tell you to avoid all fruits. I didn’t eat fruit for two years, and when I finally started healing with the help of a kinesiologist, I was so relieved to be able to eat fruit again.

One of the first things I do when I see a client who shows high levels of Candida is to tailor plan a detox program to support the body in eliminating excess toxins. Usually clients with high levels of Candida will have high levels of toxins in the body, and these toxins are what will be causing extreme fatigue, constipation or diarrhea, depression, and other uncomfortable symptoms. Once enough toxins have been removed from the body, by avoiding foods that would place stress on the body and by taking detoxifying herbs/remedies, I would test for herbs or a remedy that would target to clear the Candida overgrowth. While clearing the Candida, the detoxifying herbs would have to be taken alongside the cleansing herbs so as to avoid uncomfortable  ‘die off’ symptoms. Candida ‘die off’ symptoms are well knows amongst candida sufferers and experts. When Candida is killed off, the cells split, and creates more toxins, and this is why it is so important to clear the body of toxic overload first, and then to continue detoxifying the body alongside clearing the Candida. Once the Candida is cleared the gut needs to be healed with Lglutamine and repopulated with good bacteria. At this stage I would also look at emotional issues related to the imbalance that would need to be addressed to avoid a return. Dietary changes may change again once the body is stronger.

I personally believe Candida overgrowth is a gift for humanity to wake us up from our toxic lifestyles, and to reassess how we relate to life emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally.  How much can the body take? Yes, we are resilient, and the body has an amazing capability to heal itself, but we live in an unnatural world filled with toxic diets, drugs, environment, electromagnetic stress, and then not to even mention the stressful relationships we have in our personal or professional lives.

If you suspect you have an overgrowth of Candida and you live in London, feel free to book an appointment for an in depth holistic session that will be tailored to your specific needs.  I still find muscle testing nothing short of miraculous. Your body knows what is good for you. Trust that!
